Losing Fat by Intermittent Fasting 16 - Stepper Exercise

Why do I always look forward to the end of my fast, which is 7 pm while I am on the 23:1 ratio (1MAD eating pattern). Nowadays, it gets me so excited that I'm already planning what to eat at 5 or 6 pm.

Craving for Instant Noodles

Last night was no different and it's only day 2 within the week for my 1MAD plan (1 Meal-A-Day). I had this craving for some hot soup and my only choice for hot soup at this time was instant noodles - what else?

I said to myself that, heck, I'd be having it during that one-hour feeding window, anyway, so it probably wouldn't matter.

It was NOT a good decision.

Although my intent was to divide the soup so I'd take one half before dinner and then the other half during dinner, it didn't turn out that way. There were some bakpia or hopia (moon cake-like pastry) that had bean and yam fillings and they were really good taken with the "spicy seafood" instant noodles. So I ate the entire packet and finished it around 7 pm last night.

At around 7:30 pm, I certainly wasn't hungry anymore but I still had dinner. It felt a bit like force-feeding. Because I was already good from the instant noodle soup, I didn't have a big dinner at the table. Yet I felt really full afterwards.

Actually, I felt too full that I was worried the noodles would give me sleeping problems. Luckily, it didn't.

MSG Effects from the Instant Noodles

Today, this morning, I woke up with a bitter taste in my mouth. I was guessing it was due to the instant noodles' MSG (monosodium glutamate) that I had the previous night.

Once again, I regretted having instant noodles and was swearing them off - again!

I suppose the strong appeal of the 'umami' taste in MSG was the culprit for me. I always imagine the taste of instant noodles as flavorful. And unlike what is commonly mentioned as dangers of MSG, I don't get any headaches or nausea after slurping a bowl of instant noodles.

Intermittent Fasting with Exercise

I've tried it. And I think I'm liking it.

Tonight I retried exercising on my old Balance Stepper, aka Body Slender, aka Rock-and-Roll Stepper. The exercise machine is very old and actually broken. But I'm still able to use it even if it's missing its rubber resistance bands.

The idea of exercising at around 6:30pm or 6:45pm for 30 minutes suits me well. After exercising on the balance stepper, I take a shower and then I'm ready for dinner at around 7:30pm. Dinner usually ends at 8:00pm.

I also get sleep earlier. Whereas before, I'd sleep around 10pm, now I'm usually ready to sleep at around 9:15pm.

A bit of exercise towards the end of the fast helps build more muscle. This anabolic property of exercise after fasting was discussed briefly in the previous article.
