(This is the continuation from Part 2)
At first, I thought that exercising with the Balance Stepper but without the tension bands would be near impossible. I must admit that I was scared to just step on the foot pedals to mount it.
The thoughts of crashing one foot down and then not being able to put the other foot on the pedal without falling over were too much for the imagination. I held on to the back of a chair for support to carefully mount the stepper.

Exercise in a Balance Stepper without Tension Bands - Part 2
(This is the continuation from Part 1)
From what I've read in the online reviews and opinions, there are some instructions to limit workouts up to 15 minutes only. I believe the reason is because the hydraulic pistons generate friction and enough heat after a few minutes.
Here are some opinions and feedback I read on the Sunny Health and Fitness Twister Stepper. Some of them came from different sources.

Exercise in a Balance Stepper without Tension Bands
Seven years ago, I gave a review of the balance stepper for cardio workouts. It had its shortcomings which I listed in the review. But for its price and my satisfaction of its performance, the shortcomings were no obstacles to my using it.
Sadly, a week ago, one of its hard rubber tension bands broke. This is the thick rubber that provides a bit of resistance when pressing on the pedals.

Review of the Balance Stepper for Cardio Workouts

It's funny, but elsewhere on the net, this same aerobic exercise equipment is being advertised as the "Body Slender". There are plenty of mini-steppers around, but I suppose this one is the one commonly referred to as a Balance Stepper.
Anyway, I feel that after using it for a couple of years, on-and-off (mostly off), it's high time I gave my own review for this fitness equipment.

A Bad Case of DOMS
That's Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. I was supposed to go swimming yesterday at Metro but I had severe body pains and was having a slight fever. Che was laughing when I seemed unable to lift a dish to pass to her over at dinner.
It's that bad. I felt weak all over - like I was hit by a truck, or pounded to a pulp. Just last night, I couldn't sleep because of my pain. At around 2am, I took Mobic 15 mg and that helped a bit. But it was only after massaging my chest that I felt relief and went back to sleep.
What did I do? Well, I went back to using the balance stepper exerciser after a long time.
I only did around 40 minutes and it felt fine (I usually did 1 hour workouts before) with no problems AT ALL. And this still was last Tuesday. A few days before, I did my old dumbbell exercises for the shoulders.

Right Shoulder Therapy - 3rd Session
Last night I had my third therapy session and the passive stretches were applied. They were followed with the active relaxation stretches. And after that, resistance exercises:
Now that we're a bit settled in the renthouse while our house is being renovated, it's time to get back on regular exercise.
This morning I resumed my stepper exercises. It’s been quite a while and the feeling with the steps on my soles was strange.
It wasn’t painful or difficult. On the contrary, it was just a weird sensation like that of “riding” on a platform or surfboard (not that I’ve ridden one). And I really enjoyed the Stepper Mix Music CD (Version 2) that I created.
I’ve created remixes of hits of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, ABBA, Modern Talking, Michael J., Oldies, Latin, and more. Awesome! If you'd like to learn how to create these top-to-tail mixes that DJ's create, email me or leave a comment. It's easy.
And if you don’t have a clue on how the Balance Stepper is used, here’s a video of a similar unit (they look exactly the same, actually) in good old youtube:
I gotta admit that the music helps and a good sense of rhythm and body coordination makes the exercise so easy and enjoyable. What if you don't have good rhythm and body coordination? Well, you could always hit the gym, do weights and walk the treadmill. Or play golf. :)
- Front raise with 1 lb dumbbell
- Side raise (with shoulder transition)
- Internal rotation with a stretch band

A New Stepper
I bought a Balance Stepper for family exercise this summer. This is the lateral balance stepper that's advertised by Tony Little as the "Rock and Roll" Stepper.
We tried the stepper at the JB Sports at the Alabang Town Center. I must admit it was hard for me to get used to the feeling of the sideways rocking motion. But this exercise equipment seems to give a good cardio workout.
Will the kids use it as a form of aerobic exercise? Well I hope so for its price of Php2385. DH is very good at using this.
