Renz’s Field Trip at Subic

Today both Renz and Tita Gay went to the IJMC outing at Subic, Olongapo. They had quite an itinerary.

Happy Birthday Sandra 2008

Yup, after exactly a week (7 days) from Che’s birthday, it’s Sandra’s turn.

This time we had Chinese takeout: It’s mostly assorted cold cuts, century egg, dumplings, seaweeds and sweetish asado pork (yummy). We also had inihaw na tainga and spaghetti.

House Update: Toilet Fixtures, Stair Railing, Flintstones

The girls’ room looks really nice especially with how the red color of the neighbor’s wall emphasizes the pink color of the room.

Happy Birthday Che 2008

I was hoping for another Marjolaine cake from Red Ribbon but nopes, it was not to be. Che wanted Rocky Road. So we had that, Carbonara, Liempo and Lechon Manok.

Typhoon Quinta Disaster

Ugh. Just when I thought that the new house is nearing completion and we’ll be able to move soon, disaster happens.

Earlier typhoon Quinta decided to make a U-turn and came back with a vengeance. With it came a very heavy downpour especially in the Muntinlupa area last night. The renthouse we’re occupying isn’t just suited for that much amount of rain. The dirty kitchen quickly became flooded and rose so high that the water entered the dining and living room. Ugh.

I later learned DH went home earlier to help out Tita Gay in clearing out the water from inside the house. When I came home almost everything was wet.

Here’s how the living room looked like with all the wet clutter that we took out from the carton boxes. Renz helped out (well, play mostly) sort out stuff amidst the clutter.

Shoulder Home Physical Therapy

In a recent entry, I specifically mentioned CORRECT exercises that helped rehabilitate my right shoulder.

For a couple of months, I’ve only done dumbbell weight exercises and the occasional internal and external rotation as shown in this entry. The dumbbell weight exercises are shown here.

Another is the modified dumbbell front raise. It’s essentially the shoulder front raise but with the arm bent at roughly 135 degrees (angle inside elbow).

These are the exercises that were suggested by the Physical Therapist for my right shoulder. Somehow the pain in my front right shoulder persisted.

House Update: Room Colors, Family Hall Tiles, Clearing Operations

Officially, the finishing part of the construction commenced when the completion was at 75% of cost. And that was in October (with 3 months to go). So that gives you an idea how long the “finishing” part is. Completion now is at 90%.

The cabinets in the dirty kitchen have been built. This is on the outside and is vulnerable and so I applied much Solignum Colorless here.

The painter (Nilo) was not too keen on the treatment coz a little of the brown solignum applied on the ceiling joist had trickled down to the ceiling in the bedroom upstairs and making tiny spots. So he had to cover those spots.

Well, the brown solignum wasn’t my idea. For all the wood parts (termite food) that I treated I only used Colorless.

Shoulder Injury Improving VERY Slowly

Goodness. I thought it’ll never improve. The last therapy session I had (the “graduation” session) was last July. It’s been 3 months and it’s only NOW that I’m feeling a better sense of relief! It’s really taking a long long time. I was becoming hopeless that I thought of getting an MRI to the point of talking to Eduard (officemate) for details.

As it turns out, he too went to Dr. Betty Mancao for consultation and therapy. And he said to give it MORE time because his shoulder took like 5 to 6 months to completely heal. Whoa!

This past few days was like a milestone coz I’ve definely felt a better range of motion when putting my right arm overhead. In fact my right arm can bend overhead backwards enough to scratch my back. Of course it helps if I warm it up a little bit.

Now, I'm able to stretch my back and arms at the office. Stretching was still painful last week. Also, I can now sleep much much better at home.

All Souls Day 2008

This year we left early at 8:30am for Makati. Che and Karen had dentist appointments at 3pm and so we had to make sure we make it on time.
The usual bored-looking group - well 'cept for Renz.

All Saints Day 2008

It’s the usual All Saints Day event this year except that we didn’t go to the cemetery in Pampanga. The kids (Dada and Renz, especially) had the coughs and we left really late already at almost 11am. We were targeting 10am but we had to look for a floor strainer and that set us back. We had a late lunch at Pampanga and I managed to sleep for a couple of hours.

Renz wore my black t-shirt that I was supposed to wear at our Toastmasters Halloween meeting. I joked that he looked like a “sakristan”.
